Yes, it is a good illustration, but an even better one is Helene Carter's version in the American Lippencott editions.
That's a version of AR's illustration on P.347, JC 1948, 'Nancy reaching the Pole'.
I have to say that in any case I prefer Ransome's version. Helene Carter's illustration is very nice, but AR's are much more atmospheric. Much stronger.
