But isn't it fun?

Well, fine if it's simply kept as 'fun', but we live in an imperfect world. I need hardly say, bearing in mind the recent news headlines, that religious zealotry can cause problems. Ideally, those who wish to argue over the height of the Beckfoot flag pole should be tolerated by those, like myself, who don't give tuppence. Conversely, the literalists should not get too worked up because some of us insist that all AR's locations are really in the mind and most are 'generic'.

On the whole, on Tarboard, these different approaches live side by side. It has not always been so in the off-line world. There was once a bitter dispute (still unsettled) as to whether the boat which is in the Windermere Steamboat Museum really was the true Amazon. Me? I'm not bothered either way.

Memo to Peter C: Norman Willis has been a lifelong AR devotee, and did you know that John Sergeant is too?
