I think you may be a little optimistic in thinking that hard copy will protect any information from being disseminated easily.
It is possible to put any magazine, book or paper into a scanner and have the text easily converted into MSWord or WordPerfect at a very high accuracy rate. Pictures take a little more thought and handwriting is not impossible.

However I would favour, on a paying basis, a reprint of earlier works.

Some societies to which I belong have put all their early journals on CD. The view being taken that once one has contributed voluntary material to the Society it is for the Society's benefit and no further request is necessary for subsequent reprints if the Society only has the benefit of any funds thus derived.
Editing is not necessary as one reads it as a document of the times. However there is a general note on the cover that no editing has been carried out. Reader beware.
