permission to land and walk around it can and has been obtained

When I was a schoolboy I organised a summer holiday for my parents at Walton-on-Naze. We walked miles and miles along the sea walls around 'Secret Water' including a couple of frustrating expeditions looking for 'Sinbad's Creek'. During one of our walks we bumped into the owners of Horsey Island launching a boat at the mainland end of The Wade. They invited us to walk across and explore the island on a day when the tide permitted.

A couple of days later we did so. We had a wonderful time checking out the site of the Swallow's camp and we were invited back to the Farmhouse for tea and told about AR's own visits to the island. By this time the tide was running across The Wade, so we were driven back to the mainland in a Series I Landrover. A wonderful day.

I understand that Horsey Island is now managed by the son of the very friendly 'natives' that we met over 50 years ago.
