If I was using hand techniques to find veins and someone who dowsed could detect the gravitional anomoly then I would use them a lot. Random searching is the worst method for finding veins.

As I said not everyone has their brained wired so they understand the signals. But we use magnetic detectors to find buried water pipes when we desing for new sewers so why should a human not be able to do the same thing. Just because we can not see the part of the brain that does it does not mean it does not exist.
