Recently I began re-reading the entire SA series after a hiatus of over ten years (hence also my recent acquaintence with Tarboard).
I was sure I had a vague memory of all the books, which (with the exception of WD and SA itself) I had read only once while requesting them -- one by one and in any order they came -- through interlibrary loan. But what a surprise to discover that I must never have actually read Winter Holiday! Apparently all the references and allusions in the other books made me think that I had read it, but I find that none of it is really familiar the way it would be if I had read about mumps and the lake freezing over and sailing a sledge over the ice in a blizzard.
What fun to discover one that I could read for the first time!
