"Map dowsing cannot work."

Hmm. I wonder if, using a large-scale Ordnance Survey map complete with contour lines, or a large-scale geological map, a dowser could get a feel for likely places for water ?

Granted, map dowsing seems highly unlikely. But then, so do many other things that people achieve. The fact that it is possible for a text message to find its way from a friend in Australia through the air to my phone in my pocket somewhere in London in just a few seconds seems pretty amazing to me, but I know it happens. There are more things in heaven and earth, Peter H, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

In the words of Fox Mulder (or at least the poster on his office wall), "I want to believe".
