John, have you tried a laplap for Catriona? Its a length of cloth probably a couple of feet wide and triple that long tied in a loop and passed over your head and one arm so it lies crosswise across your chest. Catriona goes in the part across your chest. As an old hippie mother I swore by it and a couple of friends who had colicy babies found it a godsend. Even the heaviest baby feels light in it and you can get on with a hell of a lot while she accompanies you or Anne around the house with a remarkable lack of fuss.Probably a double length sarong would be suitable and with the number of Asian shops in the UK you're bound to find a mother who will know what it is and be able to help you.
I promise her crying will reduce markedly - its failsafe!
