Myth was a mutual love of C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien, who both had studied myth as part of their study of Anglo Saxon language and its roots. Apparently one of the reasons Lewis decided to seriously consider the claims of Christianity is that Tolkien and he were discussing myth, and Tolkien pointed out that the Christian story of the dying god is not merely a myth, but is the only true myth.
