I have been such an idiot. funny sweet smell in his room - I am such an old out-of-touch square that I never thought of that before. Explains a lot.
Nobody can understand what he rambles on about. I said as much, and have just apologised to him, but the fact that you, the Head, have also said the same thing surely 'covers' me.
This makes it all the more inexplicable that Johnny N. 'went for me' after Exeat yesterday. He still isn't speaking to me - I tried to get a conversation going on the subject of his inspired but somewhat unorthodox science teaching methods when I bumped into him at the St. T's v. Chalet School 3rd XV Rugby Cup match at the Old Stoop this afternoon, but he wasn't having any. Could you put in a good word for me when you see him at Divine Service tomorrow, Headmaster (assuming that he can find his way there)? I won't be there, I'm afraid, because the incense they burn has been having a very strange effect on me lately.
