I think the one I had the most empathy with was Johns first meeting with Capt Flint.
I well remember that feeling as a child of beiing accused of something I did not do and the adult accuser not letting you explain the truth.
or even listening to you.
AR caught Johns feelings so well, something that has to have happened to us all surely.

I would like if possible to extend the discussion as to who would be your favourite character in the books and why?
Also did they differ from your childhood reading to Adult reading of the books.
Mine as a child was John and maybe Tom Gudgeon as they were somebody I would have like to be.
As an adult probably Dick as he is so practical in working things out.
