Ed, you are assuming that Mrs Dixon was living in the Lakes when she nursed the future Mrs. Callum. I don't think there is evidence of this - she could have been from elsewhere herself and moved to the Lakes on marriage, or have been in service elsewhere before returning home on marriage. One scenario could be the D's grandparents holidaying in the Lakes with their new baby, and on taking a liking to the daughter of the farm where they were staying, asked her to come and join them in their home elsewhere in the country and nurse their baby for them. In that the Dixons seem to be childless, it may be that they married quite late in life when the future Mrs Callum had grown up and no longer needed nursing, leaving Mrs. Dixon to return home and marry.
