I didn't feel chesated. I felt the relief which Lyn mentions as one component of her feelings. When I first read PD aged 9 or so I felt it was more implausible than the others, and I was relieved to learn later that this view was shared by others. Some time, probably on my second reading, I noticed the internal clues, like the dedication and the notes on the illustrations. It was much later that I read SD and PP and learned the phrase 'It's all Peter Duck'.

As for GN, I've said many times that I don't view it as a Peter Duck story. If it has a somewhat different feel, maybe it's because it's about a part of Britain with which AR was less familiar.
