Nooooo - never be ashamed to read children's books - often you find such brilliant writing. I remember when Harry Potter first
became popular they had to make a version in simple wrap for all the adults who were ashamed to be seen reading a 'children's book' on the tube. Says a lot about adult ego.
Over & over again I read work from Elizabeth Enright, LM Montgomery, Hugh Lofting, AR and Laura Ingalls Wilder as well as a raft of kiwi children's writers. My equivalent of comfort food, and I'm not the least ashamed to admit it.
