Still from: http://www.britmovie.co.uk/

Before Monty Python, before The Goon Show, before the Carry On films, before the Ealing Comedies there were Will Hay, Graham Moffatt and Moore Marriott who made some of the funniest comedy films ever made. The best of these was Oh Mr Porter!

AR connections? Well, there a powerful GA figure who gets William Porter (Will Hay) promoted from wheel-tapper to stationmaster; the film sympathetically caricatures life on a sleepy 1930s branch railway line such as might have taken the S's, A's and D's to boarding school; there are even indirect Erskine Childers conections, but... you should see the film for yourself!
