It really was neat to watch them actually going under the low bridge at Potter. It's even more fun to do it!
Wonder what Ransome's reaction to these productions were, if he was around to see them. I have heard he was not pleased with the SA movie either. Ed, as AR died in 1967 he never had the chance to see either, and it wasn't the SA movie that he disliked it was the 1963 BBC serial. I think you're getting confused with Evgenia's response to the 1974 movie.
