Through my University I have access to the full online Real Oxford English Dictionary. The information I provided was the full text on sentry go from the OED. I doubt that one would find a better reference in any other printed dictionary.
AR is one hell of a wordsmith. I am inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. I am also inclined to submit the examples to the OED for inclusion in future revisions to the OED. Add this to the long list of things I have to do.
Peter H:
Whether the use of sentry go and sentry-go is a typo or not, we now have it published in a competent text by a good writer. This is sufficient to submit the word to OED. After reading the OED words, I would say it is difficult to judge the probability of the sentences being typos or a delibrate decision. So we have new ink-horn word - I don't see anything wrong with the final result.
