It seems that we were talking a few conversations back about how the Walkers 'grew up' in WDMTGTS and that maturity level showed in SW, especially in contrast to Nancy's desire to play rather than work.
Perhaps Nancy learned something from the near disaster as well. I was thinking that it could have been the example of the Swallows that made Nancy capable of martyrdom in PM. The Nancy of Swallowdale could only rebel against Aunt Maria's tyranny, while the Nancy of PM was able to plan a campaign, put the campaign in action and prevail.
