One of the amazing things about this TARBOARD stuff is that here is a collection of what are essentially total strangers, and yet at the same time, seem to be close friends. How can we be both at the same time. I feel I know so many of you, yet if you were to show up at my door, I would not have the slightest idea who you are. But once introductions are made with the explanation of "you've seen me on the TARBOARD" then you would be welcome. So to all those stranger/friends from all around the world, I am grateful for your expressions of "best wishes" on this day.
It is remarkable to wake up on my birthday, turn on the TV and see the cannon in London firing their 41 sun galoot (er, gun salute) in honor of this occasion. I never would have thought so many would have cared. Of course, the Queen can get some of this credit for the celebration as well.
We all have Ransome to thank for bringing this collection of strangers together in this medium, where we can share with each other the magic of All Things Ransome.
How wonderful to have a world of friends.
