Peter - why should Mrs Walker have to 'condone' her daughter's actions? Whatever happened to the 'best of all natives'? Surely Susan's 'actions' in looking after her younger sister and brother are admirable, and enabled the adventures to take place? As far as I am concerned, Susan is a credit to her mother. Or do you know a better way to rewrite AR's stories?
