The wikipedia ref. to Leyland doesn't mention the fact that prior to making steam vans, they were making steam powered lawnmowers. These were ungainly ride-on machines for cutting cricket greens and lawns around large estates. They grew into this from being a general engineering firm making agricultural tools etc. I believe at least one Leyland steam lorry has been restored from a pile of scrap.
