Apart from the minor differences Jock mentions, you can safely read the Red Fox editions knowing you're reading the stories as AR wrote them, and seeing all the illustrations he drew for them. (You might find my drawing of The Lake map useful too, as it shows on the one sheet all the places of all the activites in all of the Lake books. It can be downloaded free at the link below.)
