Even if you could find a worthwhile vein, persuading the Lake District National Park Authority that mining this was a good idea would be challenging to say the least!

The unexploited ore in the known veins is now deep underwater.

The last commercial copper mining in the Coniston area was carried out towards the end of the 19th C.
