The gardens can only be seen from the lake or the public access land next to HH. I assume you get to it across the area shown as moorland and woods south of HH.

The Public access land seems to have the only bit of high ground on it. I believe the view from there of HH was photographed in Clair Kendal-Price's book of AR related walks. That was the nearest that she got. There is no visible hill high enough to overlook the grounds.

The real peninsula that sticks out and blocks the view of the grounds from the southern end of the lake is about as close as I think you will ever get to overlooking HH, and even then you will need a telescope or binoculars. The main problem is the trees on the lake shore and surrounding hills. NO GO could clearly be read from the lake or Waterhead Pier. I have seen tents on the lawn at HH before now from the pier and you can see those clearly. The trees have grown across the lake frontage of HH and obscured this viewpoint.

10 years ago when I first came to the lakes the view from the pier of HH was almost as AR drew it in the books although the trees had encroached further around the boathouse since.
