The horse and carriage would have been paid for by the GA. So the decision to use this mode of transport would not have a direct connection with the state of the Beckfoot finances. See message 22106 Although, for some reason that I can't put my hand on I have always assumed that the carriage belonged to Beckfoot and only the horse and driver were borrowed or hired.

Re. Copyright, in some jurisdictions you have to claim it, in others you don't. In my case I am waiving it.
