What a Great Story!

Oh, So True!

As an artist, often we are looked down upon as totally wasting our time - NOT being a contributor to the Grand Scheme of Things. Art (in almost any form) is generally looked down upon (unless you are rich and/or famous - remember what Winston Churchhill and Dwight Eisenhower did for relaxation? - maybe if some of our current leaders followed suit we would be better off) and we feel that we have to do some "Very Important Work", like Portia tried do, to justify our existance.

I always really felt for Titty when she would talk of her inner feelings - and being not believed or ridiculed by the more "practical" members of the group. It is Art that makes us "Civilized" - gives our various Cultures REASON for existence - some are more receptive to "Personal Expression" than others. Without Art we would not have progressed farther than most animals. Captain Flint (Arthur Ransome) was just as much an artist as - fill in the blank!

The ending of the little Portia Pig story is the way we all would like to wind up - being appreciated for what we love to do - no matter what it is!

"Imagination is more important than knowledge." - Albert Einstein

OK - I'll get off my soap box!

PS - I always thought that "Pish Tosh" meant "Nonsense" in a gentle ridiculing sort of way - like "You're just being silly.".
