I find it a bit of a stretch for John to be both Jesus and Isaiah, although I quite understand the reference. After all that would make Jesus the second son of God and we know for a fact John is the eldest, unless ... no we shall not cross that path.
I suspect that AR intended the GA to be a representation of the wife of the nasty Ruler who called for John the Baptist's head on a platter.
But none of this is contained in the definitive text on the Bible by Asimov, and so I must ask as to the likely source of this new divine revelation. Although God revealing the great truth to AR would be poetic justice as far as I can see.
We could spend several hundred years developing Gospels on the theme "Better ..." etc...
AR of course was cursed by demons, the code word in biblical times for illness.
I vote for Mel Gibson to play the dying John hung on the Watchtower rock and flogged, we can supply a nice chorus of voices calling for his death, much like John and CF in the great incident with the boat.
Of course this merely points to the fun some people can have with stories and how they can be twisted.
