As for stories of Fletcher Christian's return, I find the probability to be extremely low. Interestingly, there is a strong Manx connection with the Bounty, Bligh's wife was Manx, Fletcher Christian's family were originally Manx though they moved to Cumberland long before he was born. Peter Heywood, a Manx midshipman aboard Bounty who Bligh accused of bing a mutineer was sentenced to death, reprieved and went on to become a Navy captain and died just before being promoted to admiral.
