Tomorrow is the 3rd June, a day of mixed emotions for me, sadness and joy.
The 3rd June 1967 marked the passing of Arthur Ransome, the man whose stories of the exploits of the Swallows, the Amazons and the D's have brought us all together; not necessarily in friendship - because friendships are built on much more than stories - but to share our innermost thoughts with one another.
The 3rd June 1996 marked the wedding day of our eldest daughter Jennifer to Stephen. This day we will share with Stephen's parents, Ron and Trish, our youngest daughter Gillian and her partner Euan and their son Cameron, our first grandson and a source of endless joy, ten years of a very happy marriage.
Wherever your are on the 3rd June, join me in a thought for Arthur Ransome.
