If this subject is being brought back, hopefully, this time around it will not be as bitter or as devisive as it was the last time.

It was not so much discussion, as you put it, more like full scale dispute.

I was just caught in the cross fire because my research did not support either camp even though out of fairness the cases put up by both sides were examined in case either knew something that might support my own work.

I could hardly be described as taking part either, as you put it, that would imply taking sides. Both sides were wrong for different reasons.

Each side had elements, which when put together, irrespective of whose side it came from, suggested something apart from the point of view of the people it came from.

As you say, it is NEW to you. A search of Mixed Moss back issues will show that the debate itself is very far from new. It may even go back to the start of TARS. There must be a lot in the TARBOARD archives as well.
