Thanks for spotting that, Adam - good work. Thanks also to Robert Thompson for correcting the Dutch name - I will use Illustrating Arthur Ransome more circumspectly in future. And yes, foreign illustrations are fascinating, and I never intended to deny that.

With regard to the G.A., she probably thought that the Swallows wore knickerbockers and were consequently a bad influence on the Amazons. Incidentally, a meeting which never took place, but I wish it had, would have been the G.A. encountering the Best of all Natives. I wonder who would have won that clash? My money would be on Mrs W.
