Yes, Pam, I agree, but let’s not forget that as well as being sensible, Susan was an emotional child and was not afraid to show it. There are examples in SD:
Susan wriggled a hand out from under her tent and into Titty’s which was close beside it. Titty found the hand and held it tight.

The only other one who shows her tears is Titty. When Nancy cries, she goes red-faced and turns away quickly. Susan owns up. That’s why I admire her.
