If one sets sail north from Norfolk the total distance covered when you arrive in Essex is about 27.000 miles.

That little creek is about 12,000 miles from Norfolk or Suffolk.

Not Essex then. Must be foreign. I reckon it's on the other side of the English Channel.

[27,000 route miles was about the extent of the UK railway network before Beeching. 12,000 is a bit more than it's present extent.]
