I think this may be a particularly English joke. This goes back to the posts on 'correct grammar', the point being that when one person says to another "There's no f in bananas" the other person is supposed to reply 'No' there is no f in bananas, the first person replies "Surely you mean 'there are no f'in babanas'? But nobody seemed to see the joke! Plural and singular!
