Re Bananas, a story to show how beastly Evelyn Waugh’s father was, from his biography (or autobiography). When they were in short supply, the Waugh family got three. His father ate all three in front of the family.
PS: Australia would not be short of bananas if they allowed bananas (and apples) to be imported!
