I think the word subscribe could be replaced by join, Jock. I have never had to pay anything to join the number of Yahoo Groups of which I am a member.
Most Yahoo groups have a moderated membership to avoid those who would wish to hawk miracle medicines and super wonderful financial products at un-missable prices. Indeed I would not join any Yahoo Group where messages are in the open to avoid harvesting of my email address for the aforementioned products plus attempts on my financial identity.
However once you have logged onto Yahoo you can swop from Group to Group easily providing you have the same logon for each Group.
I see what you say about links, if you are not a member of both Tarboards, but I am sure this could be resolved easily by those who wanted to joining both.
One Group, of which I am a member, has gone even further by characterising the various topics and building up a library of all the posts relating to that topic under the files heading. This would be a brilliant idea for Tarboard if someone had 2/3 hours a day to devote to it.
Would you desire for a pint or two be satisfied by Wickwars IKB ale to celebrate his 200th anniversery?
