The FAQ is actually only partly correct in that, at the age of Roger and Titty at the start of PP, the younger two are likely to have been attending the same school.
When talking with Mrs Newby in the train..
"We might have had to wait at school"
and
"We've come straight from school" said Roger.
A matter of interpretation but I remember primary school (mid to late
1940's) as being co-ed and high school (after the infamous 11-plus)
being segregated into girls and boys.
Depending on how you figure the ages of Titty and Roger, they could therefore still be together at a co-ed primary boarding school whereas John and Susan would be of the age where they would be segregated!
