If the Brits can declare Terra Nullus and steal land owned by groups for 50,000 years then a mere 4000 year is nothing. I believe Burnum Burnum landed in Elngland and claimed it for Australia, which if he had a big enough army behind him is perfectly legal thing to do and wipes out all prior titles to land.
This is a sore point around the world with a lot of people.
900 years = 30 generations, a mere drop in the bucket.
