Colin asks whether the senior Swallows & Amazons would be old enough to go to a “public” ie secondary school. That is John, Susan, Nancy & also Peggy (as Peggy was at the same school as Nancy). Dick, Titty & Roger would be too young.

I mentioned last time that their schools was discussed (or was it the time before last?) that if John in WH hoped to get in the First Fifteen (ie the top Rugby Football team of the school), he would have been the senior class of his (preparatory?) school, rather than in the junior class of a secondary school. A first year pupil would not be talking about being in the First Fifteen. Should I point out that I am not talking about Rugby School?

And though they mostly went to boarding schools, would this have to have been a “public” school, or did state-supported British Grammar Schools of the time have boarding dormitories/houses attached?

PS: the Death & Glories’ surnames were mentioned in AR’s notes, but not in any of the books?
