Where I come from, if someone you don't know comes up to you and asks you to join him in a project, you say 'OK, but who are you, and what exactly is this project?' Seems reasonable, and courteous.
So thanks for the facts, Joe - now we're getting some place. Next question - how do we help? Now if you just want vocal support, then you can have it - bags of it. I applaud what you are doing 100%. I imagine everyone else on Tarboard does. Fine, but I get the impression that you want a bit more than that.
You then say:
I want a small movement of people urging our young to go for it. You don't understand that, Peter?
I'm terribly sorry but I don't. Are you proposing to form some sort of group, action committee, etc? What do you mean by 'small movement of people' and ' go for it' in an AR context? To me, you have a marked reluctance to be specific.
OK - Joe - if you find these questions irritating or discourteous, then I apologise, and please ignore them. I will then leave this thread, baffled.
(I also apologise to JMN if for some reason this post prompts him to down alcohol, although that is the flimsiest excuse I ever heard . . .)
