You need to acquire a copy of some of the guidebooks to AR country, such as "In the Footsteps of the Swallows & Amazons" - preferably beforehand, so you can plan your visit in advance - lots of S&A related walks. I assume this can be ordered from the TARS bookstall. Check out the "Dick's Pocket Book Links" from TarBoard which will lead you to some good suggestions. The Windermere Steamboat Museum is a must (the houseboat, "Amazon") and I would recommend the steamer from Lakeside to Bowness, perhaps even on to Ambleside. After viewing the North Pole, hire a rowing boat for an hour and visit a possible Darien and a possible Amazon River.
