It is Famous Five country complete with the partially disused narrow gauge railways that criss-crossed the area at the time that EB was writing the books. The castle on Kirrin Island is loosely based on Corfe castle. The underground tunnels are based on the tunnels in the stone quarries to the South and West of Swanage. EB lived in a cottage over looking Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island and the view from her home is described in one of the stories. In this story the FF journey to a disused castle on an overgrown Island. Sorry about the vague references, but having read the FF books once I put them away for my children to read, whereas my SA books are by now pretty well thumbed.
