Amazing how discoveries come about late in life that have excaped observation in many re-reads of these books.

It was only in these last few years that I discovered that the map in WDMTGTS actually showed the SECRET WATER location as well. That discovery came as quite a surprise. Wonder why I had never noticed it before.

That reminds me of an unwritten event. In WD, John accidentally lost Jim's anchor and chair overboard. There was some talk of recovering it eventually, maybe by dredging or dragging a hook of some sort. They even wondered how much it would cost to replace, and amount far beyond their present pocket money. Yet very soon after their return from Holland, The GOBLIN was used by Daddy to ferry the castaways to the Secret Water location, and they used an ANCHOR during the unloading of the cargo at the campsite. Wonder where that came from... A new one, replaced by Commander Walker? The old one, grabbed up somehow from where it was lost? Maybe the author just made one from within his head. Cheaper that dredging and a lot simpler, too.
