Although not in the same street, may I tentatively suggest having a look at Malcolm Saville's series of books, such as 'The Sceret of Grey Walls' (1947),'Mystery at Witchend'(1943) and quite a few other titles. They are not about sailing, but they are about children taking things into their own hands (The Lone Piners!), and relate to geographical areas of England, which he tells about in the foreword.
For example, in ' ..Grey Walls':
"If you can find a map large enough to show the towns and villages in the counties of Shropshire, Hereford and Radnor.....you may find the 4 villages mentioned in the old rhyme (quoted). Clun, the last-named, is the scene of this story."
He then gives quite detailed directions to actually find the location.
