Fidra Books have just republished ORDERS TO POACH in a very good-quality paperback edition with an excellent new introduction. They have also published M. Pardoe's THE FAR ISLAND, which links in with the Bunkle series and - hooray, hooray - Elinor Lyon's first Ian and Sovra book THE HOUSE IN HIDING with an entertaining introduction in which she explains that she came to write the books because she was so fed up "with the characters in SWALLOWS AND AMAZONS who are so good at everything." They plan to publish more books in the same genre including BUNKLE'S BRAINWAVE and Lyon's WE DAREN'T GO A-HUNTING. Their website is at http://www.fidrabooks.co.uk/
The other publishers to keep an eye on are Bettany Press, who have just republished the last three Susan books by Jane Shaw, and Girls Gone By who have reissued Geoffrey Trease's Black Banner books, several of Malcolm Saville's Lone Pine and rather a lot else.
