At the risk of being Trainspotter No. 0002, I am sorry to see that on the AusTARS Website (otherwise excellent, BTW), on the 'Information' page Tarboard is listed under the heading 'TARS Websites'. This board is, of course, NOT a 'TARS Website'. I understand that the UK 'Arthur Ransome Website' is to be revised before too long, and this distinction will be made clear.

Does this distinction matter? Yes, I'd say it does. On Tarboard we have an admirably tolerant and freewheeling regime, and I would imagine most of us would like to keep it that way. In addition, many Tarboarders are not TARS members and might not wish to be thought of as such. TARS itself is a limited company with set objects and aims, and directs its energies towards them, and it also has its own internal communication system and publications. In other words TARS, appropriately, has a narrower focus than the discussions on this board which are wide-ranging and thus can be unexpectedly fascinating and instructive. (IMHO)
