As as I can recall, Peter Roche is correct. Christina was appointed a lit exec somewhere around 2000 or 2001 - fairly recently anyway.

However, I cannot see why people get their knickers in a twist about AR 'sequels'. If you wish to write a Ransome-type adventure, all you need do is give your characters different names (you'd have to rename Titty nowadays anyway). Then don't repeat too closely AR's character traits - this would be automatic in any case, because each of us would be bound to imbue our characters with details from our own experience. It is perfectly permissible to base characters on loose stereotypes - eg you could have a bespectacled studious boy in your story because they are quite a common type and every school has one (or it did have - heaven knows what happens in schools today). Likewise you could incorporate into your story a 'motherly' type of girl (although I assume such a child would not get into Prue's sequel - hmm, I wonder). There's no reason why you can't set your story on a lake, or even on an island - but don't call it 'Wild Cat' - 'Lynx Island' might be OK.

You would, of course, have your characters speaking the way modern children do - 'Nancy said 'Jibooms and bobstays' would become 'Emma was like 'Front up, dude' or whatever it is they say now. 'Yo Walker!'? Attempts to copy 1930s lingo would be an absurd pastiche, and you would never get away with it.

Easy really. Go for it!
