Thanks for this Joe. You probably mean the Academie Francaise (omitting acute accents and cedillas - because I can't be bothered to look how to include them). You only need to control a language because it is dying or dead, living languages evolve naturally.
It's just that some of the French alternatives 'up with which they come' (stick to the rules, Joe) are simply weird!!"
The French have obviously never learned that you should not start a sentence with a preposition as you rightly surmise.
