I know that this topic makes some people cross - but I can't help wondering what happened to the SA's and D's later in their lives - particularly in the War. I passionately wish that someone better than I could be allowed to sketch out a future for them.

Out of 8, 1 would not have survived. So what might they have done? Let's (go on, tell me I'm wrong!) freeze their ages at 1935. (I was born in 1932!)

Nancy was 16
Peggy was 15
John was 16
Susan was 15
Titty was 12
Roger was 10
Dick was 15
Dorothea was 14

Nancy would have become a WRNS (Wren)and might have served down here in Poole running boats to ships and seaplanes in the harbour.
Peggy would have also become a Wren and worked in the stores in a naval base in Portsmouth.
John would have joined the Royal Navy as a Sub and been posted to a Minesweeper or Frigate.
Susan would have joined the WRVS (Womens Royal Voluntary Service) to provide food to airfields and other sites.
Titty would have joined a local newspaper.
Roger would have stayed at school and then joined the Army.
Dick would have been posted to the Dirty-Tricks Dept.
Dorothea would have worked in the local Hospital.

Who would have died? Toss a coin - because that is what happened in that war.

Please, please, let someone better than I - or me - write the next page of AR's wonderful legacy.

Cheers all - Joe
