It is a mindset in the western USA - we live the outdoors lives in tight suburbia and can kill anyhting that threatens us. Snake killing is a favourite in Texas.
There are plenty of legal methods to allow him to live as he wants and then stop further development. He is better there, than homeless in London.
What is this about the French handing out tents to the homeless, next we will have the idea that people camping in parks is a disruption to the natural environment and they should be moved onto the sewers drains and such.
